COMMON MISTAKES BEGINNERS MAKE WHEN GROWING CARNIVOROUS PLANTS
1. Not enough sunlight. If your plant isn't looking good, chances are you are not giving it enough light. This is an especially safe bet if you are growing it indoors or in a terrarium. Most CPs require very high light levels to thrive.
2. You may have received wrong information when you bought your plant. Most plants that you get from stores and garden centers are not being properly cared for, and are doomed from the beginning. They will even come with incorrect growing instructions. The people selling these plants know nothing about them. They did not grow them and have no clue how to care for them. If you follow their instructions, the plant will die. I hate seeing a venus fly trap in a humidity dome stuck on a shelf inside a store. So many things are wrong with that scenario, yet that is how you frequently see these plants. No wonder people think they're hard to grow! They're not if you have correct care instructions.
3. High humidty. Except for a few of the lowland nepenthes species, most CPs do not need high humidity and this can actually weaken the plant. Don't stress over humidity, and don't use those silly domes that some stores sell plants in.
